TRAFFIC STOP LEADS TO DRUG TRAFFICKING CHARGES

(KIRKLAND LAKE, ON) - A vehicle was stopped resulting in drug trafficking charges.
On Sunday April 19, 2026, at approximately 12:40 pm, the Kirkland Lake Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) stopped a vehicle for a Highway Traffic Act offence on Government Road, East, Kirkland Lake. Upon speaking with the occupants, police formed grounds to arrest the driver and passenger for drug trafficking.
A search of the persons incident to arrest resulted in the seizure of approximately 94.53 grams of suspected cocaine, with an estimated street value of $9,453. Additionally, $630 was seized in Canadian currency.
As a result of the investigation, Shawn PHAN, a 29-year-old of Etobicoke, was charged with:
- Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking - cocaine
- Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000
The accused remains in custody and is scheduled to appear before the Kirkland Lake Ontario Court of Justice on June 4, 2026.
Additionally, Robert Valliere, a 55-year-old of Kirkland Lake was charged with:
- Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking - cocaine
- Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000
The accused is scheduled to appear before the Kirkland Lake Ontario Court of Justice on June 4, 2026.
