(FORT FRANCES, ON) - Members of the Fort Frances Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) arrested and charged an individual following a traffic stop.

On Sunday, March 8, 2026, at approximately 4:00 am CDT, officers observed a vehicle fail to stop at an intersection on Armit Avenue in Fort Frances. A traffic stop was conducted and the occupants attempted to flee on foot. An investigation into the incident determined the driver was breaching conditions of a conditional sentence order. As a result, Christopher WHALEN, 45-years-old of Fort Frances, is charged with breach of a conditional sentence order. The accused is held in custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Fort Frances on March 13, 2026.
