One Suspect Located Deceased, One Suspect in Custody

(ATIKOKAN, ON) - One suspect has been charged and a second suspect has been located deceased in connection with an incident involving two armed individuals in Atikokan that resulted in a shelter-in-place advisory.

On Wednesday, March 4, 2026, shortly after 7:00 pm, members of the Rainy River District Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to reports of gunshots in the Don Park area of Atikokan. Upon arrival, one person was located deceased.

A shelter-in-place advisory was put into effect for the Atikokan area while police searched for two suspects who were believed to be armed and dangerous. Photos of the suspects were released to the media and the public.

On Thursday, March 5, 2026, at approximately 9:30 pm, OPP members located the first suspect deceased. Shortly after, the second suspect was located and taken into custody without incident. The shelter-in-place advisory was lifted.

As a result of the investigation, Landin Andrew Louise OSKINEEGISH, 24 years old of Atikokan, has been arrested and charged with second degree murder, as per section 235 of the Criminal Code.

The accused remains in custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Fort Francis on Friday, March 13, 2026.
