A Brampton man has been arrested after four businesses were defrauded by someone scanning cheaper items at self-checkouts.
On February 7, a man attended four businesses within a one-hour period. At each he selected cases of baby formula valued at $97 each, but scanned an item valued at less than $1. The loss to the businesses was nearly $1,000.
A suspect was identified after images were shared in a Guelph Police Service news release. On Friday a 24-year-old Brampton man was arrested for seven counts of fraud under $5,000. He will appear in court July 28.
