A Guelph man is charged with impaired driving after a driving complaint Saturday night.
Just before 11 pm police were called about a possible impaired driver in the area of Tovell Drive and Westra Drive. Officers arrived to find a man sitting in the driver’s seat of a car and observed several empty alcohol containers in the back seat area. He was showing signs of impairment and handed officers a piece of paper when asked for his licence.
After failing a roadside breath test he was arrested and transported to the police station, where further tests indicated he had more than the legal amount of alcohol in his system.
A 28-year-old Guelph man is charged with impaired operation. His licence was suspended for 90 days and his vehicle was impounded for seven days. He will appear in court July 7.
