Teen arrested on assault, firearm charges

A Guelph teen faces assault and weapons charges after a man reported being beat up and having a gun pointed at him Monday night.
Approximately 8:30 pm the victim went to a south-end school to meet up with a female, however was instead met by the teen who began threatening him. The victim tried to flee but was caught and assaulted by the youth and two other males who had arrived in a vehicle. During the altercation one of the males pointed a gun at the victim and pulled the trigger but nothing happened. The firearm is believed to be a replica.
The victim sustained minor injuries to his face and head.
A 17-year-old has been arrested and charged with assault, assault with a weapon, pointing a firearm, possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose, uttering threats and using a firearm while committing an offence. He will appear in court July 8.
