A Guelph man is charged with impaired driving following a traffic stop early Thursday.
Approximately 12:45 am an officer was patrolling on Wellington Street West near Edinburgh Road South when he observed a vehicle being driven erratically and pulled it over. While speaking to the driver the officer noted an odour of alcohol on his breath.
The driver registered a fail on a roadside breath test. He was arrested and transported to the police station, where further tests confirmed he had more than the legal limit of alcohol in his system.
A 36-year-old Guelph man is charged with impaired operation, driving with open alcohol, driving with an obstructed licence plate and failing to provide proof of insurance. His licence was suspended for 90 days and the vehicle was impounded for seven days. He will appear in court June 26.
