Arrest in copper wire theft

A Guelph man was arrested Thursday after thousands of dollars in copper wire was stolen from a west-end business.
Just before 7 am staff of a business on Speedvale Avenue West reported two suspects had been observed on the property at 6:30 am The two were confronted and left the area.
A couple of hours later, staff called back after discovering approximately $7,000 worth of copper wire had been stolen. Officers reviewed security camera footage and recognized one of the men.
Approximately 2 pm the man was located walking through a parking lot in the east end and arrested. During a search officers located 30.22-calibre rounds of ammunition.
A 46-year-old Guelph man is charged with break and enter, careless storage of ammunition, breach of probation and failing to attend court. He was held for a bail hearing Friday.
