A Guelph man has been arrested on more than two dozen charges – including break and enter and dangerous driving – related to several recent investigations.
On March 11, 2025, police stopped a BMW sedan on Stone Road East. The driver identified himself and was issued a ticket, however it was later determined the name provided was false.
On November 18, two men entered a business on Stone Road West and attempted to remove a shopping cart full of merchandise. When an employee tried to stop them, he was assaulted. The employee attempted to take a photo of the men’s car, which was driven directly at the victim causing him to fear for his safety.
On December 25, and again on January 14, apartment buildings in the west end were entered using a stolen fob and tenants’ mail was removed from the building.
The Guelph Police Service Break Enter Auto Theft Unit took over the investigations and was able to identify a suspect. On Friday, just after 9 pm, a man was located at a west-end address and arrested.
A 38-year-old Guelph man is charged with obstruct police, driving while suspended, assault, dangerous driving, two counts each of break and enter and wearing a disguise and multiple counts of breaching a release order. He was held for a bail hearing Monday.
Investigation revealed the man is also wanted on five different warrants from other police services, including a Canada-wide warrant from British Columbia for property and driving offences.
