A Brantford man faces several charges after the driver of a stolen pick-up fled from police in Guelph last weekend.

Just after 6:30 am Sunday an officer was driving on Wellington Street East when he observed a black Dodge Ram being driven erratically and almost colliding with the marked cruiser. The officer attempted to conduct a traffic stop but the suspect fled at a high rate of speed.

The driver of the pickup was identified through security video from a nearby business.

On Thursday afternoon a 30-year-old Brantford man was charged with possessing stolen property over $5,000, flight from police, dangerous driving and two counts of driving while prohibited. He will appear in court June 16.
