A man who has been the subject of several public warnings because the Guelph Police Service considers him a high-risk offender was rearrested within two hours of being released from custody Monday afternoon.
Medhani Yohans, 36, was arrested downtown at 2:35 pm after he was observed breaching a condition of his latest probation order. He had been ordered to stay away from a particular address.
Yohans has a history of violence which includes two sexual assaults on strangers. The Guelph Police Service believes he poses a risk to the community, particularly to women, and are concerned that he may commit similar offences in the future.
Earlier Monday we issued a public warning after Yohans was released from court after pleading guilty to breaching an earlier probation order. He was released with several conditions.
He is now facing another count of breaching a probation order as a result of Monday’s arrest. He will appear in bail court Tuesday.
