Impaired charge after car stuck on tracks

A Guelph man is charged with impaired driving after a car got stuck on railroad tracks Wednesday night.
Just before 10:30 pm police were called to the tracks between Duke Street and Arthur Street South where they found a man attempting to reverse his vehicle off the tracks.
Officers spoke to the man and detected a strong odour of alcohol on his breath. He exited the vehicle and was observed to be unsteady on his feet.
The man was arrested and transported to the police station, where tests confirmed he had more than twice the legal amount of alcohol in his system. A 66-year-old Guelph man is charged with impaired driving and driving while disqualified. His licence was suspended for 90 days and his vehicle was impounded for seven days. He will appear in court May 29.
