A Guelph man is charged with impaired driving after crashing his mom’s Tesla Wednesday evening.
Just before 6 pm a Guelph man reported he had been rear-ended on Stone Road West near the Hanlon Expressway and that he believed the other driver was impaired.
A short time later the complainant called back and reported the two had come to an agreement and no longer required police. Officers attended due to the allegation of impairment and located the Tesla in a ditch a short distance away. While speaking to the driver they noted a strong odour of alcohol and signs of impairment.
The man refused to acknowledge a breath demand. He was arrested and transported to the police station, where he refused several times to provide a sample.
A 35-year-old Guelph man is charged with impaired driving, refusing to comply with a breath demand and careless driving. His licence was suspended for 90 days and his mother’s vehicle was impounded for seven days. He will appear in court February 20.
