A Guelph man is charged with impaired and dangerous driving following a two-vehicle collision Tuesday evening.

Approximately 8:25 pm a woman called to report her car was just rear-ended at Eramosa Road and Delhi Street and she believed the other driver was impaired. Officers arrived and spoke to the male driver, who had a strong odour of alcohol on his breath and was showing signs of impairment. He was arrested and transported to the police station, where tests indicated he had more than three times the legal limit of alcohol in his system.

Investigation revealed the man is required to have an ignition interlock on his vehicle as a result of a previous impaired driving conviction.

A 37-year-old Guelph man is charged with impaired driving, dangerous driving and driving while prohibited. His licence was suspended for 90 days and his vehicle was impounded for 45 days. He will appear in court March 10.
