A driving complaint led to impaired driving charges for a Guelph man Monday evening.
Approximately 7:45 pm police were informed of a possible impaired driver in the area of Edinburgh Road South and Municipal Street. The vehicle was located a short time later in the driveway of a south-end home with the owner still behind the wheel.
Officers spoke to him and immediately noted a strong odour of alcohol on his breath. When the driver exited the vehicle he was unsteady on his feet. He was arrested and transported to the police station, where tests revealed he had more than twice the legal limit of alcohol in his system.
A 64-year-old Guelph man is charged with impaired driving. His licence was suspended for 90 days and his vehicle was impounded for seven days. He will appear in court June 26.
