A Waterloo man has been arrested after a Northern Ontario man reported being robbed at gunpoint in Guelph last December.

Approximately 2:30 pm December 2 a male working in the area of Woodlawn Road West and Elmira Road North called 911 after he was approached by an injured man.

The victim had come to Guelph to meet with a number of males to discuss investments. While waiting in one of the males’ SUV, another male entered the vehicle and began assaulting the victim. One of the suspects then pulled out a handgun and stole the victim’s valuables.

The victim was able to flee the vehicle and flag down the passerby who called 911. The victim was transported to hospital for treatment of head and facial injuries.

On Monday a 26-year-old Waterloo man was arrested for robbery with a firearm and forcible confinement. During a search incident to arrest officers located a number of small baggies of suspected cocaine and Percocet. He was additionally charged with two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking and held for a bail hearing.
