A Guelph man faces weapons and robbery charges after someone with a handgun entered a north-end business Thursday.

Just before 1 pm police were called to a business near Woolwich Street and Marilyn Drive. Witnesses reported a male had entered with a black gun in his hand and pointed it at two people, who were afraid for their lives and tried to hide under tables.

The man did not say anything and left the restaurant a short time later. Just before 2 pm the male was located nearby and arrested.

A 27-year-old Guelph man is charged with pointing a firearm, robbery, assault with a weapon and possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose. He was held for a bail hearing Friday.
