A Guelph man was arrested after he was found Friday inside an apartment unit which was supposed to be vacant.

On Friday morning police were called to a building on Speedvale Avenue West after the property manager reported someone possibly inside the unit.

Officers arrived and following a short negotiation the man exited the unit and was arrested. An inspection of the apartment revealed extensive damage throughout. While collecting the man’s belongings, officers recovered an imitation rifle. Investigation revealed he is subject to four weapons prohibitions.

A 32-year-old Guelph man is charged with being unlawfully in a dwelling, mischief under $5,000 and four counts of possessing a weapon contrary to an order. He was held for a bail hearing Monday.
