A Kitchener man who tried to hide from police during a traffic stop Wednesday was arrested on several charges.

Just before 1 pm Guelph Police Service officers observed the man driving a van with a female passenger in the east end. Officers were aware the man had an outstanding warrant and pulled the van over. The man initially tried to hide in the back of the van while the woman moved into the driver’s seat, but was eventually arrested on the warrant for missing a recent court date.

Investigation revealed the man is on two different bail orders with conditions including house arrest and not having contact with his female passenger. He is also a suspended driver.

A 33-year-old Kitchener man is charged with five counts of breaching bail conditions, failing to attend court and driving while suspended. He was held for a bail hearing Thursday.
