Guelph Police Service stopped two drivers in two separate incidents who were driving more than 40 km/h over the posted speed limit. The first instance took place early Friday morning where a 38-year-old female was clocked going 95 km/h in a 50 km/h zone. The second incident took place Saturday afternoon where a 23-year-old male driver was caught driving 81 km/h in a 40km/h safety zone. Both drivers had their licences suspended for 30 days and their vehicles impounded for 14 days.

A stunt driving charge is applicable under the highway traffic act if a driver is driving a motor vehicle at a rate of speed that is 40 km/h or more over the speed limit, if the speed limit is less than 80 km/h. A stunt driving conviction will attract a minimum licence suspension of one year, a minimum fine of $2,000 and six demerit points.
