A Cambridge man is charged with impaired driving after being stopped for speeding in Guelph Thursday night.
Just after 11 pm a member of the Guelph Police Service Traffic Unit was patrolling near Gordon Street and Stone Road when he clocked a vehicle travelling 81 km/h in a posted 50 km/h Community Safety Zone.
The vehicle was pulled over and while speaking to the driver the officer detected an odour of alcohol. After failing a roadside breath test he was arrested and transported to the police station, where further tests confirmed he had more than the legal amount of alcohol in his system.
A 24-year-old Cambridge man is charged with impaired driving and speeding. His licence was suspended for 90 days and his vehicle was impounded for seven days. He will appear in court April 21.
