A Quebec man believed to be involved in a series of fraudulent truck rentals was arrested in Guelph after an employee recognized his photo.

Approximately 5:20 pm Wednesday police were called to a business on Stone Road West where a man had presented an Alberta driver’s license while attempting to rent a U-Haul truck. The employee recognized the photo on the licence from a number of fraudulent rentals in which the vehicles were not returned.

Officers arrived and arrested the man, seizing a Quebec driver’s licence as well as the Alberta licence with a fake name. It is believed the man was involved in at least five U-Haul rentals using various aliases in Waterloo Region and Quebec.

A 33-year-old Quebec man was arrested for fraud over $5,000 and possessing an identity document in another name. He was held for a bail hearing Thursday.
