Three impaired driving arrests

Three motorists have been arrested for impaired driving in separate incidents.
Just before 6 pm Tuesday, a member of the Guelph Police Traffic Services Unit stopped a car on Victoria Road South near York Road after the cruiser’s automated licence plate reader alerted to a vehicle associated with a suspended driver. While speaking to the driver the officer noted an odour of alcohol.
After failing a roadside breath test he was arrested and transported to the police station, where further tests confirmed he had more than the legal amount of alcohol in his system. A 36-year-old Guelph man is charged with impaired driving and driving while suspended.
At 10:40 pm police were dispatched to a west-end address after residents found a man sleeping in a running car in their driveway and were unable to wake him.
Officers arrived a short time later and learned the man had been wakened and taken into a nearby home by a relative. They spoke to him and asked him to provide a roadside breath sample, which resulted in a fail. He was arrested and taken to the police station, where tests confirmed he had more than the legal amount of alcohol in his system. A 36-year-old Guelph man is charged with impaired driving.
At 2:30 am Wednesday, police received reports of a disturbance downtown. Witnesses reported an intoxicated man being physically aggressive with people and driving his car. Officers arrived and found a man lying in the backseat of the car with the keys. The man failed a roadside breath test and was determined to have more than the legal amount of alcohol in his system. A 31-year-old Salem man is charged with impaired driving.
Each of the accused had their licences suspended for 90 days and their vehicles impounded for seven days. Each were released with upcoming court dates.
