Two people were arrested early Tuesday after breaking into the west-end apartment of a man they mistakenly believed was in custody.
Approximately 12:05 am police were called to an address on Imperial Road North. The resident discovered the accused in his unit and told them to leave before calling police. Officers arrived minutes later and stopped a vehicle attempting to leave the area.
The two were placed under arrest and a search revealed a baggie with suspected cocaine.
A 36-year-old Guelph woman and 35-year-old Guelph man are each charged with break and enter. The man is also charged with possessing a controlled substance while the woman is further charged with breaching a probation order and two counts of failing to comply with a release order. Both will appear in court May 5.
