(ADJALA-TOSORONTIO, ON) (NEW TECUMSETH, ON) (ESSA TOWNSHIP, ON) - Members of the Nottawasaga Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have arrested and charged five more impaired drivers in all separate occurrences in the last 30 days.

On March 23rd, 2026, shortly after 5:30 pm, police were phoned by a business in Tottenham and notified a customer was believed to be intoxicated, was denied service and then began operating a motor vehicle. The vehicle was located, stopped and an impaired investigation began.

As a result of the investigations, the driver, Balpreet DEV, a 31-year-old of Tottenham has been charged with:

  • Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

On March 27th, 2026, shortly after 12:30 am the Nottawasaga OPP received a call for service reporting that a suspected impaired driver was driving back to their residence in Alliston. The vehicle was located, stopped and an impaired investigation began.

As a result of the investigations, the driver, Kyler MACNEIL, a 22-year-old of Alliston has been charged with:

  • Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

On March 31st, 2026, shortly after 11:30 pm, police were conducting proactive traffic enforcement on Highway 89 in Adjala-Tosorontio Township. Police had stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation. During the traffic stop the officer believed the driver to be impaired and began an impaired investigation.

As a result of the investigations, the driver, Akhil BHATIA, a 21-year-old of Toronto has been charged with:

  • Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Improper number plate light

On April 5th, 2026, shortly after 1:00 am an officer of the Nottawasaga OPP was conducting proactive patrols in Angus when they observed a vehicle idling in a parking lot. The driver appeared to be slumped over at the wheel or attempting to conceal themselves from police. The officer conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle and detected an odour of alcohol on the driver. The officer began an impaired investigation.

As a result of the investigations, the driver, Cameran PORTER, a 25-year-old of Angus has been charged with:

  • Operation while impaired - alcohol
  • Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

On April 14th, 2026, shortly before 2:00 am an officer of the Nottawasaga OPP was conducting proactive patrols in Alliston when they observed a vehicle stopped in the middle of the road on Young Street. When the officer approached the driver side of the vehicle, multiple containers of alcohol were observed inside the vehicle and an impaired investigation began.

As a result of the investigations, the driver, John GALLAUGHER, a 21-year-old of Mulmur has been charged with:

  • Operation while impaired - alcohol
  • Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Driving motor vehicle with liquor readily available
  • Drive motor vehicle - no licence
  • Fail to surrender insurance card

All five accused parties had their drivers licence suspended for 90 days, had their vehicles impounded for 7 days and were released with a future court date at the Ontario Court of Justice in Bradford to answer to the charges.
