SUSPECT CHARGED AFTER STEALING A CHARITY BOX FROM A LOCAL BUSINESS

(ESSA, ON) - Officers from the Nottawasaga Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have arrested and charged one individual in connection to a charity box theft in Essa Township.

On July 9, 2025, shortly after 9:00am, Nottawasaga OPP responded to a theft incident at a local business on Mill Street in Essa Township. Video footage obtained determined that the male suspect entered the store the night before, stealing a charity box before fleeing the store.

Officers were able to identify the suspect with the assistance from the public and as a result of investigation, Christopher LANG 28-years-old of Essa was charged with the following:

  • Theft Under $5000
  • Fail to Comply with Probation Order
