Charges Laid
(NEW TECUMSETH, ON) - The Nottawasaga Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has laid charges after completing an investigation following a pedestrian being struck by a motor vehicle in Tottenham.
On July 25, 2025, Nottawasaga OPP officers, responded to an emergency call regarding an electric motorcycle that had struck a pedestrian. The OPP Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement (T.I.M.E.) team assisted with the investigation and determined a 13‑year‑old youth was operating an electric dirt bike on a public roadway at the time of the collision. Further investigation revealed the dirt bike had been purchased by a parent, who permitted the youth to operate it on the roadway.
As a result of the investigation, a 43-year-old of New Tecumseth has been charged with:
- Dangerous Operation causing bodily harm
The accused is scheduled to appear in court at the Ontario Court of Justice in Bradford on a later date to answer to the charge.
Additionally, a 13-year-old of New Tecumseth, has been charged under the Highway Traffic Act with:
- Careless driving causing bodily harm
