(ESSA TOWNSHIP, ON) - Members of the Nottawasaga Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have arrested and charged two more impaired drivers this week after two unrelated impaired driving investigations occurred in Essa Township.

On February 5, 2026, shortly after 7:30 pm, police received a report of a possible impaired driver after a vehicle had rear ended another driver in a local drive thru. The driver proceeded to ram the other vehicle multiple times to get clear of the drive thru. Officers arrived on scene and arrested the driver without further incident.

On February 6, 2026, shortly before 4:00 am the Nottawasaga OPP received a traffic complaint of a possible impaired driver travelling on County Road 15 then east bound on County Road 21, driving on the shoulder, almost in the ditch and driving on the wrong side of the road. Shortly after 4:00 am police located the vehicle north bound on County Road 10 and conducted a traffic stop.

As a result of the investigations, the first driver, Tyler CORSON, a 38-year-old of Essa Township has been charged with:

  • Operation while impaired - alcohol and drugs
  • Failure or refusal to comply with demand
  • Operation While Prohibited under the Criminal Code
  • Fail to Comply with Probation Order
  • Driving motor vehicle with open container of liquor

The driver of the second investigation, Serenity TRAVIS, a 19-year-old of Essa Township has been charged with:

  • Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Young driver - B.A.C above zero
  • Entire plate not plainly visible

Both accused parties had their drivers licence suspended for 90 days and had their vehicles impounded for 7 days. The first accused was held for a bail hear and the second was released on a Form 10 Undertaking with a future court date at the Ontario Court of Justice in Bradford to answer to the charges.

This week the Nottawasaga OPP has arrested and charged four impaired drivers with a total of 17 charges laid during these occurrences.

If you drink, make the right choice and do not drive. There are options available to those who consume alcohol or use drugs and want to get home safe. Call a taxi or rideshare service. There are also companies that will bring both you and your vehicle home.
