(SOUTH BRUCE PENINSULA, ON) - A Meaford resident is facing impaired‑driving related charges after police responded to a single motor vehicle collision.
On June 3, 2026, at approximately 8:00 pm, Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a single‑motor‑vehicle collision on Silver Lake Road near Allenford Road in the Town of South Bruce Peninsula.
Officers arrived to find a vehicle in the ditch after it struck a tree. The driver reported swerving to avoid a deer, causing the vehicle to leave the roadway. The driver sustained minor injuries.
While speaking with the driver, officers detected an odour of alcohol, prompting an impaired‑driving investigation. The driver was subsequently arrested.
Rebecca NUGENT, 30 years old, from Meaford, has been charged with:
- Operation while Impaired - Alcohol (Criminal Code)
- Operation while Impaired - 80 Plus (Criminal Code)
The accused was released and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound on July 16, 2026.
A 90‑day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (ADLS) and a seven‑day vehicle impoundment were initiated as required by statute.
