OPP INVESTIGATES SERIOUS COLLISION IN THE TOWNSHIP OF SOUTHGATE

(SOUTHGATE, ON) - The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is investigating a five-vehicle collision that happened on Grey Road 14 in the Township of Southgate.
On Thursday, January 22, 2026, at approximately 1:15 pm, officers from the Grey Bruce Detachment of the OPP responded to a multi-vehicle collision involving a snow plow and four passenger vehicles.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the driver of the snow plow was initially involved in a collision, prompting him to step outside his vehicle, at which point he got struck by another vehicle, causing a secondary collision. The snow plow driver was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, and four other individuals sustained minor injuries.
Grey Road 14 remains closed between Southgate Road 3 and Highway 89. Whiteout conditions were identified as a contributing factor in the collision.
Hazardous road conditions continue to impact travel across the region. Motorists are advised to slow down, increase following distance, and remain alert for sudden changes in visibility and traction. Please exercise caution and avoid unnecessary travel until conditions improve.
