(MEAFORD, ON) - A Hamilton resident is facing multiple charges after a Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer was struck during a roadside traffic stop.

On November 5, 2025, at approximately 8:44 pm, the officer was conducting a traffic stop on Highway 26, near Algonquin Drive in the Municipality of Meaford. While the officer was dealing with the driver of the vehicle that had been pulled over, an eastbound vehicle clipped the officer with its passenger-side mirror and failed to stop. The officer sustained minor injuries. Police later located the suspect vehicle and identified the driver.

A 70-year-old from Hamilton has been charged under the Highway Traffic Act with:

  • Fail to Report Accident
  • Fail to Remain at the Scene
  • Careless Driving
  • Fail to Slow Down and Proceed with Caution for Emergency Vehicle
