DRUG TRAFFICKING INVESTIGATION LEADS TO ARRESTS AND SEIZURES IN MEAFORD

(MEAFORD, ON) - The Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged two individuals following a drug trafficking investigation that began in March 2026. The investigation focused on a residential unit located on Highway 6 & 10 within the Municipality of Meaford.
On May 29, 2026, at approximately 6:00 am, members of the Grey Bruce Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU), Grey Bruce OPP Detachment, and West Region OPP Canine Unit, executed a Controlled drugs and Substances Act (CDSA) search warrant at the residence. Two individuals were located inside and arrested without incident.
A search of the residence was conducted by members of the Grey Bruce CSCU. Officers seized controlled substances with an approximate potential street value of $5,700, along with offence-related property valued at approximately $1,300.
Officers seized the following suspected controlled substances:
- Approximately 25 grams of suspected fentanyl
- Approximately 20 grams of suspected methamphetamine
- Multiple suspected codeine pills
The following individuals have been charged under the Controlled drugs and Substances Act (CDSA) and the Criminal Code (CC):
Jason MALCOLM, 45 years old, from Meaford
- Possession for the purpose of trafficking - Schedule I (Fentanyl) (CDSA)
- Possession for the purpose of trafficking - Schedule I (Methamphetamine) (CDSA)
- Knowledge of unauthorized possession of a weapon - 2 counts (CC)
- Possession of a weapon contrary to prohibition order - 2 counts (CC)
Savanna MCEACHERN, 38 years old, from Meaford
- Possession for the purpose of trafficking - Schedule I (Fentanyl) (CDSA)
- Possession for the purpose of trafficking - Schedule I (Methamphetamine) (CDSA)
- Knowledge of unauthorized possession of a weapon - 2 counts (CC)
Both accused were held for a bail hearing in the Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound on May 29.
