BREAK AND ENTER INVESTIGATION LEADS TO RECOVERY OF APPROXIMATELY $43,000 IN STOLEN PROPERTY

Fourth Person Arrested

(GREY COUNTY, ON) - Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have arrested a fourth individual in connection with an ongoing investigation into a series of break and enters and thefts affecting residences and businesses in Meaford, Grey Highlands, and Southgate Township.

Since August 2025, Grey Bruce OPP members have continued to investigate multiple reported property crimes across the region. On March 24, 2026, officers located a significant quantity of suspected stolen property at a business on Bell Circle in Dundalk, as well as at a second location on the 7th Line in Meaford. Two individuals were arrested and charged on March 24 and March 26, 2026. A third individual was arrested and charged on March 30, 2026.

On April 7, 2026, Grey Bruce OPP arrested Robert PLANT, 25-years-old, of Port Colborne, Ontario. PLANT has been charged with the following Criminal Code offences:

  • Careless storage of a firearm
  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm
  • Knowledge of unauthorized possession of a firearm
  • Possession of a firearm obtained by crime
  • Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000 (three counts)

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound on May 21, 2026.

To date, officers have recovered approximately $43,000 in stolen property, including power tools, chainsaws, a welder, and a.22 calibre semi‑automatic rifle. Most items have been successfully linked to their rightful owners.

The investigation remains ongoing.
