Arrests Made in Faizaan Awan Homicide

Hamilton Police have arrested five individuals in connection with the homicide of 16-year-old Faizaan Awan.
On Thursday, March 6, 2025, at approximately 4:20 am, Hamilton Police responded to reports of a shooting in the area of Highway 8 and Fruitland Road in Stoney Creek. Two vehicles were located at the scene, a white Kia sedan and a red Acura SUV. The driver of the SUV, 16-year-old Faizaan Awan, was found to be suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was transported to hospital, where he later died as a result of his injuries.
Since Faizaan’s death, the Homicide Unit has been working to determine who was responsible.
Yesterday, Hamilton Police executed five search warrants at five addresses in Hamilton and Ottawa, resulting in the arrest of five individuals who have been charged with First Degree Murder and Attempted Murder in relation to the two other passengers in Faizaan’s vehicle.
Those charged are:
- Mohammad Aburas, 26 years, of Ottawa
- Ameer Nabout, 22 years, of Hamilton
- Ameen Nabout, 20 years, of Hamilton
- Rami Qasem, 42 years, of Hamilton
- Sari Nawabit, 36 years, of Hamilton
The investigation has determined that this was a targeted attack involving multiple individuals and multiple firearms.
This has been a complex investigation involving witness interviews, the collection of physical evidence, and the analysis of video and digital evidence. The continued discovery and analysis of new evidence over the course of the investigation has led to these arrests.
The Hamilton Police Service would like to acknowledge the support of its policing partners who assisted in this investigation, including the Niagara Regional Police Service, Peel Regional Police, Brockville Police Service, Barrie Police Service, and the Ottawa Police Service.
The Homicide Unit believes additional individuals may be involved, and this remains an ongoing investigation. Investigators continue to work to identify and locate anyone else who may have played a role in this incident. Further arrests are anticipated.
