Hamilton Police are asking for the public’s assistance in locating a wanted man in connection with a targeted shooting at a residence on Hess Street South.

On March 20, 2026, shortly after 4:10 am, police responded to reports of gunshots inside a residential unit at 95 Hess Street South. Officers located an adult suffering from gunshot wounds. The victim was transported to hospital with serious, non-life-threatening injuries.

Investigators believe the incident was targeted. The firearm used in the shooting has since been recovered.

As a result of the investigation, Hamilton Police have arrested and charged:

Nicol Jeffrey, 44, of Hamilton Alexander Echeverry, 30, of Hamilton

Both are charged with:

  • Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
  • Break and Enter
  • Extortion while Using a Firearm
  • Robbery with a Firearm
  • Forcible Confinement
  • Aggravated Assault
  • Uttering Threats to Cause Death

Police are now seeking a third individual. A warrant has been issued for Joshua Teklenburg, 38, of Hamilton and he is facing the following charges:

  • Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
  • Break and Enter
  • Extortion while Using a Firearm
  • Robbery with a Firearm
  • Forcible Confinement
  • Aggravated Assault
  • Uttering Threats to Cause Death

Teklenburg is described as:

  • Male
  • Black
  • 6’2”
  • Approximately 200 lbs
  • Medium build
  • Last seen with a beard and short black hair

Investigators are urging Teklenburg to seek legal counsel and surrender himself at the nearest police station.

Anyone who sees Joshua Teklenburg is asked not to approach him and to call 911 immediately.
