Youth Suspect in Hamilton Police Custody

Hamilton Police confirm that the 14-year-old male suspect in the fatal shooting of Nabil Askafe at Jackson Square on April 24, 2026, is now in custody. Following an extensive search involving multiple Hamilton Police units, the youth turned himself in to police on April 26, 2026.
Police have now spoken to all the individuals involved in Friday’s altercation at Jackson Square and are not looking for any more suspects.
On April 24, 2026, at approximately 5:10 pm, Hamilton Police responded to reports of a shooting inside Jackson Square. Upon arrival, officers located a 16-year-old male suffering from life-threatening injuries. He was transported to hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
