The Hamilton Police Service is investigating a fatal workplace incident in the city’s industrial sector.
On Monday, April 27, 2026, at approximately 4:20 pm, emergency services were called to a waste transfer facility on Strathearne Avenue after reports that a worker had been struck by heavy equipment.
Police, Hamilton Paramedic Service, and Hamilton Fire Department attended and located a 48-year-old male with critical injuries. Life-saving measures were started immediately, and he was transported to hospital. Despite these efforts, he was later pronounced deceased.
The incident involved a commercial vehicle and heavy equipment operating at the site. The Ministry of Labour has been notified and is assisting with the investigation. The Office of the Chief Coroner is also involved and has ordered a post-mortem examination.
