The Hamilton Police Service have arrested two youths following a robbery linked to an online marketplace transaction earlier this month.

On April 11, 2026, at approximately 5:15 pm, officers responded to a report of a theft at a business in Dundas. The victim had arranged to sell an iPhone through Facebook Marketplace to an individual using the name “Malakai McCollin.” The parties agreed to meet at a local gas station to complete the transaction.

Upon arrival, the victim was approached by two male youths who forcibly took the phone from her hands and fled toward a waiting vehicle. The suspects left the area prior to police arrival.

On April 20, 2026, investigators identified and arrested both suspects. A 16-year-old male and a 15-year-old male, both from Hamilton, have been charged with Theft Under $5,000.

To date, there have been 33 marketplace-related occurrences reported to Hamilton Police in 2026.
