Hamilton Police have arrested two individuals following an extensive investigation into a series of break and enters targeting gas stations across rural Hamilton and Southern Ontario.

Beginning in February 2026, investigators identified a pattern of overnight break-ins occurring between February 24 and April 1, with approximately 21 incidents believed to be connected. In each case, suspects arrived in stolen vehicles and forcibly gained entry—either by smashing glass doors or using a hook attached to a vehicle to rip off security gates—causing significant property damage. Cigarettes were the primary target.

On April 8, 2026, members of the Hamilton Police BEAR Unit executed search warrants at two Hamilton residences, resulting in the arrest of two suspects.

Christopher CLAROS, 37, of Hamilton, is charged with:

  • Break and Enter (x3)
  • Possession of Burglary Tools (x4)
  • Disguise with Intent (x3)
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000 (x9)
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000 (x3)
  • Operation While Prohibited (x5)
  • Possession of Counterfeit Mark (x4)
  • Occupy Motor Vehicle Without Consent
  • Theft Over $5000
  • Proceeds of Crime Under $5000
  • Possession of Fentanyl for the Purpose of Trafficking
  • Possession of Methamphetamine for the Purpose of Trafficking
  • Proceeds of Crime Over $5000

Nickolas CLAROS, 38, of Hamilton, is charged with:

  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000 (x3)
  • Operation While Prohibited (x3)
  • Fail to Comply with Probation (x7)
  • Proceeds of Crime Under $5000
  • Possession of Ammunition Contrary to Order

As part of the investigation, seven stolen vehicles were recovered. Both individuals were held in custody, with police opposing their release on bail.
