Hamilton Police have arrested an individual following a break and enter at a Hamilton car dealership where the suspect was found in possession of a loaded firearm.

On April 10, 2026, at approximately 11:00 pm, police responded to a report of a break and enter in progress at a business in the area of Rymal Road East. The business owner reported observing a suspect inside the building via video surveillance.

Officers arrived on scene and began searching the property. Shortly after, a suspect matching the description was observed exiting the dealership. When officers attempted to stop him, the suspect fled on foot. Following a brief pursuit, he was arrested.

During the arrest, the suspect advised officers he was in possession of a firearm. Police located a loaded handgun concealed in his waistband. No injuries were reported.

A subsequent investigation revealed damage to the building, including a smashed rear garage window.

Kristoffer STEVENSON (50), of Hamilton has been charged with:

  • Break and Enter – Commit
  • Disguise with Intent
  • Possession of a Loaded Restricted Firearm
  • Possession of Break and Enter Tools
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime
  • Fail to Comply with Undertaking
  • Fail to Comply with Release Order
  • Possession Contrary to Prohibition Order

Police also confirmed the accused was bound by multiple court orders at the time of the incident, including conditions prohibiting possession of firearms and requiring him to remain at his residence.

The accused was held in custody for a bail hearing.
