Police Investigate Stolen Vehicle Collision on Burlington St

On Monday April 13th, 2026, shortly after 3:00pm, Hamilton Emergency Services were called to the area of Burlington Street East and Sherman Avenue North, for a report of a vehicle collision. It was further reported that a male driver of an involved vehicle had fled the scene on foot. Upon police arrival, it was learned that the involved vehicle was on file as stolen.
Three male passengers (18yrs, 18yrs and 17yrs) of the stolen auto were transported to hospital with non-life threatening, but serious injuries. The two passengers of the other involved vehicle were treated on scene by EMS.
The HPS Traffic Unit responded with other investigating units to process the collision scene. The affected stretch of Burlington Street East was closed for short period, but has since re-opened.
During the course of the investigation, a 16yr old male was identified as the driver of the stolen auto that fled the scene. He has since been located and arrested without incident. The investigation is ongoing at this time.
Police are actively seeking any potential witnesses to this incident and urge anyone with information to come forward. Investigators are also requesting any motorists in the area at the time of the collision to check their dash cameras.
