Attempted Smash and Grab Robbery in Stoney Creek

Hamilton Police Service is investigating an attempted smash-and-grab style robbery at Eastgate Square, located at 75 Centennial Parkway.
On February 4, 2026, at approximately 4:00 pm, Hamilton Police officers were conducting proactive patrols of jewelry stores within the mall. During this time, four individuals entered the mall with their faces covered and were armed with a sledgehammer and crowbars.
As the suspects made their way toward one of the stores, they observed mall security and police officers in the area. The group then fled the mall and returned to a waiting vehicle driven by a fifth individual. The suspects were last seen leaving the area in a black sedan.
Investigators are continuing to work on obtaining detailed descriptions of the suspects. Police are concerned the group may attempt to target another business, as this attempt was unsuccessful.
Store owners and members of the public are reminded to remain aware of their surroundings and to contact police if any suspicious activity is observed.
