Charges in Embezzlement Investigation

The Hamilton Police Financial Crimes Unit has arrested a 56-year-old woman following a forensic investigation into the alleged embezzlement of funds from a local non-profit organization.
Between the years of 2021 and 2023, the accused is alleged to have embezzled approximately $72,000 from a fundraising account belonging to Rygiel Supports for Community Living.
As a result of the investigation, Viola Galamini, 56, of Hamilton, was arrested on January 22, 2026. She has been charged with the following offences:
- Criminal Breach of Trust
- Fraud Over $5,000
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000
- Use of a Forged Document
Galamini was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court in April 2026.
