Hamilton Police have charged a 17-year-old male following a motor vehicle collision involving street racing.
On January 11, 2026, at approximately 9:00 pm, officers were called to the area of Upper Gage Avenue and Macassa Avenue for reports of a collision involving multiple vehicles.
The investigation determined that prior to the collision, a white Mercedes SUV was observed street racing with another light-coloured vehicle while travelling southbound on Upper Gage Avenue. During the high-speed incident, the Mercedes collided with a black Toyota RAV4 that was turning onto Macassa Avenue. As a result of the impact, the Toyota was pushed into a Chevrolet Volt.
The light-coloured vehicle involved in the street racing fled the scene prior to police arrival.
All three vehicles sustained significant damage; however, no occupants reported serious injuries.
A portion of Upper Gage Avenue was closed while officers conducted the investigation and has since reopened. Hamilton Police thank the public for their patience during the road closure.
The 17-year-old driver of the Mercedes has been charged with Street Racing under the Highway Traffic Act.
