Hamilton Police have arrested a 27-year-old man in connection with a sexual assault that occurred in 2015.

On August 14, 2015, around 3:00 am, the victim was walking alone near Quigley Road and Veevers Drive when the suspect pulled her into a wooded area and assaulted her. She managed to escape by kicking the suspect in the face with her boot. Investigators collected DNA evidence from the boot, but no match was found at the time.

In December 2021, a DNA match was identifed leading to further investigation. As a result, the suspect was arrested March 4, 2025. He has been released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court at a later date.

The suspect’s identity is protected under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, as he was a youth at the time of the offence.
