Hamilton Police Charge Son in Death of 87-Year-Old Woman

Hamilton Police have charged a 61-year-old Hamilton man in connection with the death of his 87-year-old mother.
In July 2025, Hamilton Paramedic Service responded to a Stoney Creek residence for an elderly woman in medical distress. She was transported to Hamilton General Hospital and admitted to the Intensive Care Unit. Hospital staff later contacted Hamilton Police with concerns regarding suspected elder neglect. The woman, identified as Zofija Tokic, died in hospital on July 16, 2025.
Following a lengthy investigation involving the Hamilton Police Homicide Unit, Crimes Against Seniors Unit, the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service, the Centre of Forensic Sciences, and the Regional Coroner’s Office, Peter Tokic has been charged with Manslaughter and Criminal Negligence Causing Death in relation to the death of Zofija.
