Hamilton Police investigate downtown robbery

Shortly after 10:30 pm on Wednesday October 2, 2024 a 39 year old female was walking eastbound on Main Street East from Wellington Avenue South when a male suspect approached her from behind. The victim was struck on the head, knocked to the ground and robbed of her purse. The victim sustained cuts to her head and treated for non-life threatening injuries.
The victim described the male suspect as white, 20’s to 30’s, short dark brown hair, tan vest and blue jeans. No video surveillance footage was located in the area.
Just over two hours later, a male attempted to use the victim’s bank cards at a business in the area of King Street East and Ashley Street. Police are requesting the assistance of the public to identify this male.
