Hamilton Police Investigate Overnight Shooting Near Upper Gage

Hamilton Police are investigating the City’s 51st shooting of the year.
On September 21, 2024, Hamilton Police received a 911 call around 11:15 pm for shots fired in the parking lot of a strip plaza located at the corner of Fennell Ave. E and Upper Gage Ave. Upon arrival, police located a male victim in his 30s with a gun shot wound and found multiple bullet casings in the plaza. The victim was transported to hospital with non-life threatening injuries. He has since been treated and released.
The Shooting Response Team was called to investigate. Police released the scene at approximately 3:20 am after forensic examination. Several local businesses in the area also sustained damage from the bullets.
It is early in the investigation and the motive and suspect(s) for this shooting have yet to be identified. The direction of travel and description of the shooter(s) is unknown at this time.
Investigators are requesting anyone with video in the area of Fennell Ave. E and Upper Gage Ave to please check their surveillance footage between 11:00-11:30 pm on September 21 for anyone fleeing the area quickly.
Investigators are seeking witnesses who observed the shooting. These witnesses are encouraged to come forward and speak to the Shooting Response Team. At this time, Police have received limited cooperation from the public. Staff at Coolers bar have been cooperative and have assisted detectives in this investigation.
