Hamilton Police Investigate Serious Collision on Upper James Street

Hamilton Police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding a two-vehicle collision that occurred yesterday. We are calling on the community for assistance in providing any information or evidence that may help in our investigation.
On Sunday, July 21, 2024, shortly before 1:00 pm, Hamilton Police responded to a motor vehicle collision on Upper James Street between Dickenson Road East and English Church Road East in Hamilton.
At this time investigators can confirm a 2010 Hyundai Elantra, was traveling southbound on Upper James Street when it was rear-ended by a 2016 Honda Civic. The Hyundai was driven by an 86-year-old and her 59-year-old daughter, both from Hamilton. The Honda was driven by a 24-year-old man from Hagersville. Both vehicles came to rest on the west shoulder of Upper James Street.
All three individuals involved in the collision were transported to hospital. The 86-year-old driver has life-threatening injuries, while the 59-year-old passenger and the 24-year-old driver have serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
Hamilton Police are actively seeking any potential witnesses to this collision and urge anyone with information to come forward. Investigators are also requesting motorists who were in the area at the time of the collision to check their dash cameras, and residents or businesses with surveillance cameras to review their footage between 12:40 pm and 12:55 pm Any relevant footage may assist in the investigation.
