Hamilton Police Make Arrest in October 2023 Homicide

On October 3, 2023, Hamilton Police responded to reports of shots fired at 111 Herkimer Street in Hamilton. Upon arrival, officers located Tito Kelly, who was deceased. Investigators believe this incident resulted from a drug transaction that led to both sides exchanging gunfire.
A second male, whose name will not be released at this time, sustained a gunshot wound to the arm and received treatment at a hospital.
Police have arrested thirty-six-year-old Brampton resident, Donte Smith, for manslaughter. The investigation is ongoing as officers believe at least one other parties was involved. Smith remains in custody with a bail hearing scheduled for July 11.
